Thursday, July 10, 2008
The Business Women's Charitable Foundation, an organization of
Hunterdon women business owners, has formed a program designed to
provide financial support for women who want to become business
owners, but do not have the means to get started.
"The BWCF mission is to raise funds for local causes, with a
specific emphasis on helping women and children in Central Jersey,"
says Katherine Mehner, president of BWCF. This "program is about
giving another woman a chance to make a difference in her life and
helping to make her dream a reality," she said.
To be eligible for the award, a woman must:
( Be attempting her first self-employment venture;
( Fall into moderate to low income status;
( Be underemployed or unemployed.
Along with an application, candidates will need to submit their
short- and long-term goals, ideas on training; a brief business plan
and community, business referrals and an application fee of $25.
Applicants are encouraged to use free the services of the Small
Business Development Center at Raritan Valley Community College for
support in preparing their business planning documents. It can be
reached by calling 526-8515.
Applications can be obtained by calling Cynthia Schick at 236-2989

Please take the time to send your legislator a letter to tell him/her about
the valuable services you received from the SBDC. For your
convenience, below are links to a sample letter and contact information.
Thank you for your support -- we very much appreciate you and all of our
